TITLE: GENERAL LABOR - 2nd and 3rd Shift

DESCRIPTION: To fill-in where needed during the shift, assisting crews, cleaning, sorting and performing other miscellaneous duties. This is considered an entry level position and job holders will be expected to get qualified in other positions so that they can fill-in at machine centers as needed and eventually move beyond the General Labor position when the opportunity presents itself.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is intended to be used as a general guideline and checklist for evaluating and qualifying employees in the position of General Labor. All employees will be required to fully understand and perform the duties listed to be considered “qualified” in this position.

The information below will be discussed with the trainee by the department supervisor prior to any on-the-job training and by the trainer during the job training.

I. Physically Capable:

• Lifting 30 – 100 pounds occasionally
• Pushing and pulling occasionally
• Standing for long periods
• Bending frequently
• Twisting and kneeling frequently
• Single grasping frequently

II. Safety:

• Wear PPE
• Knowledge of all machine controls and respective functions
• Understand lock-out/tag-out procedures required for machine repair
• Demonstrate safe work habits and good housekeeping practices
• Work in a safe and productive manner
• Identify and report work hazards
• Know and obey all established safety work rules
• Understand set-up procedures and safety precautions to ensure protection of

personnel doing setups

III. Ability to read and understand production orders:

• Read and understand a shop card
• Read and understand load tags
• Understand Industry Standards for printing, slotting and scoring
• Product routing through plant
• Check spec dimensions to box dimensions
• Able to use problem solving techniques to meet customer needs

IV. Knowledge of the machine to be able to set up and use the following:

• Tape Measure
• Basic Mathematics
• Utility Knife

V. Understand terminology to assure customer of a quality product:

• Score Fracture
• Loose Liner
• Print and Cutting Register
• Warp Boards
• Out of Line
• Understand Wax Coating
• Kla White, Kraft
• E-Flute, B-Flute, C-Flute, Doublewall, Triplewall

VI. Communication & Interpersonal Skills

• Comprehend instructions given by supervisors
• Ability to get along and have a good working relationship with other employees
• Take responsibility for communicating with other shift employees how job is running, unique problems, adjustment settings, etc.
• Use proper communication skills with co-workers and customers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.07 per hour
