Subrogation Claims Examiner
Job description
Put your assessment, analytical, and negotiation skills to work for California Casualty, a family-owned property and casualty insurance group in business since 1914. We’re looking for an astute professional to review, evaluate and settle internal claims files.
As Claims Examiner – Subrogation, you will recover the maximum amount of dollars owed to the company for claims that were paid due to the negligence of other parties. Functions will include reviewing files and determining the course of action; sending letters to appropriate parties; and initiating payment for insureds expenses/deductibles within identified timeframes. You will also assess and evaluate liability of claim; negotiate settlements with adverse insurance company or uninsured party; and determine if file should be passed to collections, subrogation attorney or inter-company arbitration. In addition, we will rely on you to file inter-company arbitrations and prepare a written presentation, including contentions and documentation to support company position on liability for inter-company arbitration. In all dealings, you will comply with state insurance regulations and internal procedures.
The candidate we seek will have:
- 2+ years of property and casualty adjusting/subrogation experience
- Preferably, 2+ years working knowledge of investigation and negotiation techniques, medical and legal terminology, PIP/Med Pay, auto, homeowner and comparative negligence concepts
- A high school diploma (some college preferred)
- The ability to obtain and maintain insurance licensing for required states
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Windows-based computer programs, such as MS Office
- Demonstrated ability to establish priorities in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
- The ability to work under minimal supervision
- Exceptional customer service skills
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $24.88 - $31.19 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. The company also offers a full range of medical, financial and other benefits, including eligibility for the company’s performance sharing plan and paid time off such as holidays, vacation, sick and personal days.
This position can be filled in Arizona or Colorado.
