West Virginia University College of Applied Human Sciences is currently accepting applications for a Student Success Coordinator.
About the Opportunity
As a Student Success Coordinator, you will work with any or all CAHS undergraduate majors. You will be responsible for advising current students, advising incoming students through New Student Orientation, teaching First Year Seminar, developing and implementing recruitment and retention initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

What you'll do:
- Utilize the WVU Undergraduate Catalog to ensure compliance to College and University policies and procedures
- Develop and implement programming aimed at improving retention and degree completion rates for students in CAHS
- Oversee the collaboration between the CAHS and the WVU Athletic Department to enhance student athlete advising, NCAA certification, and communication between the units
- Provide timely and effective academic advising support to undergraduate students and student athletes in the College of Applied Human Sciences
- Conduct database management and analysis for monitoring and documenting student progress, identifying opportunities for increasing program completion, and disseminating relevant findings to CAHS administrators and program faculty to guide decision-making in curriculum and instruction
- Support the College’s administrative team by collecting and analyzing data on student demographics, undergraduate enrollment, degree completion, and other pertinent topics for periodic reporting
- Continue to review, update and disseminate to all students and faculty informational materials on student policies, procedures, advising resources, internal communications, program marketing materials, registration and graduation
- Monitor current trends in enrollment management, student retention, and program completion, making recommendations for continued innovation in strategic planning
- Deliver a combination of appreciative, developmental, intrusive and prescriptive advising models to meet individual student needs and help them reach their educational goals
- Monitor degree progress and completion and maintains student records by utilizing information systems (i.e., Banner, Degree Works, Navigate)
- Participate in New Student Orientation by advising incoming freshman throughout the summer
- Support students through the appeal process for academic and federal financial aid suspensions
- Assist transfer students and students taking courses in transient through the transfer credit articulation process
- Work with faculty to identify students who are at-risk during the Early Alert reporting process and provide outreach and support to these students
- Collaborate with other units on campus to connect students with resources as needed
- Participate in the strategic planning and execution of recruiting and retention initiatives and events within the College
- Plan, manage, instruct, and assess First Year Seminar, student success, and career development-oriented courses
- Evaluate student registration for course program of study (CPOS) compliance
- Master's degree in education, counseling or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
- A minimum of one (1) year of related experience
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Strong analytical skills in determining best course of action when presented with student academic/career issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare various communications, reports, and communicate clearly and concisely with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to deal with stress, conflicts, varied personalities of students, co-workers and others, in a calm, congenial manner
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications and University supported software systems, Banner, Degree Works, Navigate, etc.
