The Role
Greater Nevada Credit Union is looking for an SVP - People that creates an exceptional people experience by helping develop and overseeing the implementation of strategies that generate engagement from recruitment to retirement. This role serves all levels of the organization as a culture champion that makes a dynamic impact for Greater Nevadans in each of the Greater Nevada companies. As a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, this role will think holistically about our planning process while advocating for our culture. The SVP is primarily responsible for overseeing leadership of several support areas, including:

- People Engagement, including Internal Communications
Now that we have shared a little about the position, it is equally as important to talk about what the position isn’t. Reducing expenses or increasing efficiency are good things, but not at the expense of our culture or the employee experience. We don’t want to waste anyone’s time, so if your skills are primarily focused on cost-saving or contract negotiations, this likely isn’t the role for you. However, if you are passionate about people and creating a fantastic career experience for them, we look forward to meeting you.
The C.A.R.E. Deal
The employment relationship for every Greater Nevadan is defined by a simple (virtual) handshake arrangement, or deal, between that individual and our President and CEO. That deal is known by the acronym “C.A.R.E.” and defines each of its participants’ expectations for one another. The responsibility to uphold and honor the C.A.R.E. deal starts from our first day as a Greater Nevadan and continues until our last.
Under C.A.R.E., you can expect your Greater Nevada career experience to be guided by four areas:
Compensation and Benefits
Highly competitive pay and a robust, relevant benefits package is fundamental for our people. At Greater Nevada, this includes:
- Assessing your individual performance and contributions in designated six-month periods in a full company setting, with eligibility for semi-annual compensation adjustments based on relative C.A.R.E. contributions
- High quality medical, dental, and vision plans with broad networks. Greater Nevada covers nearly all employee costs and a large majority of the costs for their dependents
- Employer contributions to company-provided health savings accounts (HSA), which help offset annual deductibles
- Other generalized insurance offerings, including supplemental plans
- To encourage retirement savings and planning, a 401(k) plan includes quick entrance into the plan and an attractive employer matching benefit
- Generous paid time off benefits to refresh and reinvigorate, including:
- Vacation leave
- Sick leave
- Personal leave to celebrate your birthday
- 12 annual paid holidays
- Paid time away from work to volunteer in approved community causes
- Multiple weeks of paid sabbatical leave after every seven years of employment
- Special access to Greater Nevada Field and the University of Nevada, Reno athletic events
- Employee appreciation events throughout the year
- Discounts for theme parks, events, and services
- Logo wear, product, and service discounts for Greater Nevadan
Compensation
- $200,000.00-$250,000.00 per year
- Competitive compensation and Greater Benefits are part of our deal

Recognition
Greater Nevadans do some amazing things every day, so it is important to give appropriate acknowledgment and appreciation for their accomplishments. There are various creative, fun, and impactful ways people are celebrated for their successes.
Environment

The C.A.R.E. deal goes both ways, so let’s look at what is expected of all Greater Nevadans.
Competence
Greater Nevadans can bring their Passion to life by continually maintaining and acquiring the necessary skills and expertise to be successful.
Attitude
Bringing a consistently Greater attitude to the workplace is something we all must do to be successful Greater Nevadans. Certainly, nobody can have a perfect attitude every moment of every day. However, in those times when life sends you lemons, Greater Nevadans are expected to work through those situations to make lemonade.
Relationship Building
Fostering strong relationships is critical for every Greater Nevadan. As a people-first business, investing the time and energy to ensure we have excellent relationships with everyone we encounter, including members, clients, coworkers, business partners, and the communities we serve.
Effectiveness
Each Greater Nevadan must be productive in their daily roles at the expected levels—and hopefully beyond. In addition, truly effective Greater Nevadans are always on the lookout for ways Greater Nevada can be even Greater and are willing to proactively share those observations and ideas with other appropriate people within the Company.
Guiding Principles
Passion Statement
At Greater Nevada, we don’t express our purpose with long-winded, bloated, tired, and stale proclamations about our mission or vision. History has shown that such statements are often difficult for people to understand, let alone connect with, in a meaningful way.
Instead, at Greater Nevada, we choose to talk about the one thing we have a true passion for—our reason for existing, which is To Help More People Live Greater. When we say “people,” we mean every single person we interact with or could interact with, as we represent Greater Nevada. It doesn’t matter if it’s a member, a prospective client, a business, a coworker, one of our business partners’ employees, or someone we encounter in one of the communities we serve. Our ambition to learn about their wants and needs and find ways to help enhance their lives is what drives us.
Core Values
If you think about it, there are many ways to deliver our Passion for Helping More People Live Greater. However, some of those ways wouldn’t necessarily be wise, or in some cases, ethical or even legal. Therefore, every Greater Nevadan needs to have a framework, or set of guidelines, for how we choose to achieve our Passion Statement. At Greater Nevada, these are known as our Core Values.
While these Core Values were formalized during the last 20 years, they have actually been incorporated into our culture since Greater Nevada was established in 1949. These six Core Values have become the foundational bedrock for how Greater Nevadans approach their work and achieve Greater things:
Care Genuinely
Our people-first approach begins with taking a genuine interest in those we serve or otherwise have contact with during our workday.
Move Forward Together
We can accomplish far more together than we can as individuals. Therefore, we commit to communicating and collaborating with our fellow Greater Nevadans and our members, clients, and communities to make meaningful progress.
Stay Trustworthy
In both our words and our deeds, we must conduct ourselves with integrity and in a manner that encourages trust.
Be Bright
We apply our minds and hearts to deliver well-conceived, intelligent solutions for people, add uplifting color to their lives, and find ways to illuminate their days.
Inspire One Another
We are willing to deliver on our Passion Statement in different and innovative ways, often going beyond our industry’s traditional boundaries. That creative energy invigorates our fellow Greater Nevadans to seek opportunities to enhance and challenge the way we approach various aspects of our business.
Enjoy the Experience
Greater Nevadans can do more to Help More People Live Greater when we can have a good time while doing so. Seeking opportunities to have some fun in the workplace, combined with the gratification of achieving our goals, helps foster a positive atmosphere, and increases our desire to do more.
What You’ll Be Doing
As you can see Greater Nevadans are unique, and so is the role of every Greater Nevadan. In this role, you will lead the C.A.R.E.-focused people experience initiatives for the Greater Nevada companies. This leader will move us forward by monitoring the current internal environment and identifying enhancement opportunities. All the while remaining aware of pertinent developments within the external landscape. At times this role will serve on other assigned committees, sometimes in a leadership capacity. Get to Know Greater Nevada
Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) is the largest community financial institution domiciled in the Silver State, with a 70-plus-year track record of helping people and communities. In 1949, six employees of the State of Nevada wanted a financial cooperative to help them access small loans at affordable prices and save their hard-earned money. The rest, as they say, is history. Our credit union has grown in size and stature but has never moved away from those essential concepts. We currently touch the lives of more than 81,000 members and thousands upon thousands of people through our community and philanthropic work.
