Job Summary:

The Safety and Health Specialist will focus on improving Safety and Health at the Holland site by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong SH&E culture. Evaluates workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations. Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company safety standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation. Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee one or more plant-wide safety, health and/or environmental programs.
  • Ensure effective hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices.
  • Conduct daily line walks to ensure safety practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any safety related policies/regulations.
  • Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements across the organization.
  • Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions.
  • Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and critiques.
  • Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other safety related training topics.
  • Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Communicate with LG Energy Solution and SH&E colleagues around the globe.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical safety a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience working with MIOSHA / OSHA regulations.
  • Experience in performing ergonomic assessments desirable.
  • Must be comfortable working in a team setting.
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports.
  • Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills; able to work flexible hours occasionally.
