The Program Manager coordinates all activities to meet cost, schedule, and performance metrics of multiple complex projects within critical programs. The principles of project management are utilized to support preparation of statements of work, execution of activities, completion of schedules, and delivery of required products/services to the customer.

Responsibiliites:

  • Provide support of project managers as required.
  • Customer point of contact for all major programs related to assigned key customers.
  • Interface with key customers and outside sales on prospective projects.
  • Interfaces with key customers for spec development.
  • Assess and develop critical project feasibilities, project plans and compliance matrices.
  • Develop and manage risk assessment and risk mitigation plans through risks analysis.
  • Head project meetings and present project schedule and status to customers and management.
  • Work with engineering to establish test requirements and resources.

Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge Earned Value Management (EVM) principles are desired.
  • Ability to support preparation of contracts and agreements
  • Ability to lead proposals for complex engineering programs
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers and various levels of staff
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation
  • PC skills: literacy in MS Projects, Excel, Word, & optical /mechanical design software
  • Must use Critical Thinking/ Deductive reasoning
  • Must work Independently

Education/Experience:

B.S. Degree in Optics or related technical field, advanced degree preferred; twelve (12) – fifteen (15) + years previous program management experience or equivalent; fifteen (15) + years of experience in the optical industry or equivalent with some knowledge of various engineering disciplines (systems, mechanical, electrical, software).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; ability to travel; work in office setting.
