Job Description
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach TRF 450 Topics in Production: Studio Process and Workflow on Tuesdays 9:30AM-12:30PM during the Spring 2023 semester at our NYC campus (3 credits).
Course Description: The course is designed as a series of workshops lead by guest speakers, and each workshop will be pieced together by practical exercises assigned by the course professor that apply the knowledge gained in previous theory-based courses. These workshops will also allow students to gain hands-on experience in topics, such as unit production management, grip, hair/makeup, production design, etc. This course will ultimately provide the students with an isolated focus on vital studio activities which they do not have access to on campus.
This in-person course will meet at Great Point Studios, 28 Wells Ave, Yonkers NY 10701. The expected salary range for this position in New York City is $1,700 per credit.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a significant amount of professional production experience in the entertainment industry and ideally will have some NYC based production experience. This candidate will also have enough influence and relationships to provide students with opportunities to engage with other production professionals either in a classroom setting or in the workplace.
Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
- Developing a syllabus.
- Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
- Preparing for classes.
- Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
- Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to personally instruct the class in the assigned classroom on the days it is designated to meet.
- Ability to hold office hours on campus.
- Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
Tools/Equipment
- Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
