Dialysis Patient Care Technician assists in direct patient care of the chronic hemodialysis patient. The technician is responsible for ensuring quality care is provided and meets or exceeds CMS and ESRD network standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient supervision and support during the hemodialysis treatment
  • Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording information, patient observations, hemodialysis machine setup, machine testing and operation during patient treatments
  • Clean and disinfect equiptment and surrounding area
  • Participates in staff orientation and training when appropriate
  • Education of patient and families regarding dialysis care, transplant and end stage kidney disease
  • Education of patients regarding dialysis access, medications and other related conditions
  • Communication of patient related and clinic related issues to patient's nurse when appropriate
  • Reporting, troubleshooting and resolution of adverse events
  • Reporting, troubleshooting and resolution of facility, equipment or technology-related problems
  • Maintains appropriate skill level in dialysis therapy, therapy related equipment
  • Develops and maintains courteous and professional relationships with staff, vendors, physicians, patients and families with timely communication
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Motivated team player with a desire to make a positive difference in peoples lives
  • Must be comfortable with healthcare work and working with needles and blood
  • This position is currently for Monday, Wednesday and Friday but availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed is required
  • Previous hemodialysis experience preferred
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required

  • Travel to Topeka, Wichita, Salina or other local community may be required during training
