Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Academic Resource Center, the Testing Coordinator/HiSET Chief Examiner will coordinate and proctor the HiSET testing program and other testing services provided in the Academic Resource Center (ARC), including Accuplacer testing, ADA testing accommodations, and department make-up testing. The Testing Coordinator/HiSet Chief Examiner will assist with the development of study and preparation courses for the MoGEA, MCAT, GRE, LSAT and other standardized tests. The Testing Coordinator/HiSET Chief Examiner will assist with creating an environment that is conducive for academic success through interpersonal connections with students, staff, the public, and/or external organizations.

Principal Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of the Testing Center in the ARC.
  • Work with the Director to develop and update services, policies and procedures in response to the changing demands. Schedule and publicize testing services to the campus and community.
  • Serve as the designated GED Chief Examiner. Follow federal and state regulations and policies and ensure compliance with regulations and test security.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and visitors seeking information about HiSET testing. Assist students to complete GED testing paperwork and assure accuracy and completeness.
  • Train and schedule other Testing Center staff and work-study personnel
  • Provide special proctor services for other University departments
  • Maintain Testing Center statistics including the number of people tested, number and types of tests given. Prepare monthly and annual reports as requested by the Director.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including annual HiSET meetings, to maintain knowledge and awareness of effective practices to maintain certification status
  • Provide professional development to appropriate staff on best practices in test administration
  • Develop relationships with other colleges and universities to enhance the testing center in the ARC
  • Attend appropriate staff meetings at the departmental and division level
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Academic Resource Center.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Must possess a Master’s degree in education, psychology or related field. Three years of experience in teaching, training, counseling or testing required.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, computer and telephone skills, superior organizational skills, and advanced knowledge of MS Office, internet and e-mail usage are required;
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail is essential.
