The Senior Design Strategist is part of the UHC Innovation Team, a working group within the UHC Growth Office responsible for developing new business value for all populations served by UnitedHealthcare. The selected candidate will join a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary team with diverse backgrounds in professional areas like finance, business strategy, consulting, entrepreneurship, public health, innovation and human-centered design. As a member of the team, the Senior Design Strategist will contribute to the team’s collective progress by applying the principles and techniques of design to identify the right business opportunities using a highly iterative approach to member needs identification, concept testing and strategy development. Primary Responsibilities:

• 
  Organize and manage member research efforts through team-initiated activities and outside agencies and vendors
• 
  Facilitate strategy using design methods and frameworks that illuminate potential opportunities, support business case development, prioritize strategic decisions and help build well-reasoned recommendations
  
• Plan and manage structured tests and experiments to accelerate organizational learning and contribute
• 
  to the advancement of enterprise growth initiatives
• 
  Use design thinking skills and tools (including design research, service blueprinting, collaborative design session facilitation and rapid prototyping) to generate productive collaboration and influence decision-making
  
• Distill complex systems and processes into relatable presentations, frameworks, models and diagrams
  
• Support and contribute to the overall UHC Innovation Team charter directed at driving next-generation growth

Required Qualifications:

• 
  4+ years of experience practicing service design, user research, design strategy, human-centered design or similar
• 
  4+ years of working with cross-functional stakeholders including technology, product, operations, analytics or similar
• 
  2+ years planning, organizing and managing qualitative research projects
• 
  2+ years of experience in business development, growth, strategy, customer experience, consulting or similar
• 
  Excellent time management, organization and task prioritization skills
• 
  Technical fluency – must be conversant on the topic of current and emerging technologies
• 
  Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable with ambiguity, pivoting and high-pressure timelines
• 
  Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• 
  Must be able to work in Minnetonka, MN and travel as dictated by business needs
• 
  Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.
