Under the direction of the Athletics and Sports Supervisor, the Sports Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the delivery, development and implementation of all youth and adult sports programming for Mountain Recreation. Assists in planning, implementing and organizing recreation programs and services while occasionally serving in a front-line role and providing high quality recreation opportunities for the community.

This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position with medical, dental, vision and retirement options. As well as facilities memberships! All candidates must fill out the application, submit a resume and cover letter.

Salary: Full-Time Hourly; Exempt;

Pay: $50,018 - 62,523 DOE; additional $1/hr conversational Spanish incentive ($2080 annually). This position will start in January 2023.

Benefits include: 3.75% contribution to 401a account, and sick, vacation and holiday leave.   • Retirement:
  • 401a Colorado Retirement Association Plan - Upon hire employees’ contribute 3.75% pre-taxed to their 401(a) with a match from the District. After five years of employment, employees’ match automatically increases to a pre-taxed 6% contribution with a match from the District.
  • 457b Retirement Plan – Full time year round employees are eligible to elect the 457b Retirement plan up to 10% with a $1 for $1 match from the district after one year of employment. Employees may contribute to the 457 plan within their first year without receiving the district’s match. Once the employee reaches one year of service, the district will begin matching. Employees may change their contribution at any time.

Example of Duties:

  • Assists in planning, coordinating, supervising and conducting recreational sports activities to achieve departmental and community service goals as assigned.
  • Seeks out and obtains community input on assigned programs, measuring level of interest
  • Trains and schedules all part-time staff, with teamwork and efficiency as primary goals; reviews and evaluates to maximize program and customer service quality and staff productivity.
  • Assists instructors/coaches with program set-up, rosters and equipment needs.
  • Works collaboratively with the Facility Supervisors to coordinate use of program area facilities in accordance with priorities and/or regulations; files necessary permits and schedules use of program space.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external guests
  • Provides good public relations for the District by notifying class participants and instructors of class cancellations, program changes, added classes, processing refunds, receiving and replying to all correspondence.
  • Assists in developing new programs and services that are consistent with District mission and goals and meet community needs and interests.
  • Provides for the safety of participants and staff, including implementing risk management practices.
  • Inspect program spaces as needed to ensure a safe and positive experience for participants and spectators.
  • Evaluates classes and programs on an on-going basis, utilizing statistics to plan and market future programs and classes.
  • Manages accidents and incidents according to procedures.
  • Maintains and cares for program facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Instructs various recreational classes as needed or directed.
  • Create programs and experiences for our diverse community by removing barriers and obstacles so everyone in our community can live a healthy and happy life.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Required Knowledge & Skills: Considerable knowledge of: activity for which providing instruction and/or supervision; effective teaching techniques and age appropriate activities for populations served; safety guidelines related to assignment.

Ability and skill to: exercise initiative and significant independent decision making; demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, planning and problem solving skills; actively participate in all activities; interact with a variety of patrons/participants; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; supervise and motivate staff; establish and maintain positive, respectful and cooperative working relationships with all contacts.

Requirements:

1. Two years of college with an emphasis in related field; AND

2. Two years of progressive work experience in closely related recreation position; OR

3. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above described duties.

4. Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Colorado driver’s license.

6. Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish preferred

Supervision Exercised: May directly supervise part-time and seasonal employees, volunteers, instructors, and coaches.

Work Environment: Works indoors and outdoors. Work hours will vary, including evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Hours will be flexible to successfully accomplish the duties of the position.
