Are you an experienced magazine designer living on Maui? Come join the team at Maui Nō Ka 'Oi Magazine in Wailuku as Senior Publication Designer.

As Senior Publication Designer you will:

• Design beatiful, enlightening and engaging features, departmets and covers for Maui Nō Ka 'Oi Magazine and sister publications.
• Provide art direction to staff and contract photographers.
• Commission illustrations.
• Coorinate with photo and text editors.
• Manage design and production budget.
• Manage production schedule.
• Maintain brand and publication design guidelines.
• Shape the creative vision for our company and magazine brands.

These are the skills and attributes you will need to do this job well:

• 5+ years of magazine design experience, including as junior designer, senior designer, assistant art director or art director.
• Aesthetic eye for beauty that plays photography and engages the reader.
• Consummate student of art, design, typography, photography, media and magazines.
• Curiosity about the world, including culture, art, history, food and travel.
• Bachelor or Master's degree in art, design or similar field of study.
• Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and InCopy.
• Color theory, typography, and deep knowledge of magazine design styles.
• Layout storyboarding and draft design conceptualizations.
• Experience leading a team, managing budgets, and producing magazines in efficient production workflows.
• Collaborative team player.

Work location:

220 Imi Kala St, Unit 204H in Wailuku.

What you’ll earn:

Annual salary of $56,000-$64,000.
