Job Description:

Our 12-bed inpatient mental health unit located in Hutchinson, Minnesota provides inpatient mental health services for adolescents, adults, and seniors. We are currently seeking a RN or LPN to join our team! We are team based and work with a highly skilled treatment team to complete assessments and evaluations, provide group therapy and case management, and develop both treatment and discharge plans. We have an amazing, compassionate group of Psychiatrists (seriously, THE BEST) who work collaboratively with our nursing staff. You can make a difference. This is an opportunity for an individual to develop skills to get patients with mental health challenges back to the life they want to live! This position will work nights with 8 hours shifts on the weekdays and weekend 12 hour night shifts (Saturday and Sunday) every 3rd weekend. Position will be scheduled 64 hours every two weeks and is eligible for all benefits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Collects patient health data by performing thorough assessments.
• Analyzes assessment data and develops an individualized care plan based on patient’s problems.
• Provides verbal/written education to patients and families including information on diagnosis, medications, coping, problem solving, crisis management, etc.
• Provides and maintains a therapeutic environment with patients and other health care clinicians.
• Promotes patient involvement in activities of daily living to foster self-care, mental and physical well-being.
• Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
• Awareness of professional nursing standards of care within service area.
• Interacts with, and contributes to the professional development of peers and other health care providers.
• Collaborates with the patient, family, and other health care providers in providing patient care.
• Bases decisions and actions on behalf of patients in an ethical manner.
• Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
• Uses counseling interventions to assist patients improve or regain previous coping skills fostering mental health, prevent mental illness and disability.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Education, Training or Degree Required:

• Graduation from a school of nursing providing education and training in treatment of patients in all age groups.

License/Registration/Certification Required:

• Current licensure as a LPN or Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota required,
• Current CPR certification required.

Experience and Skills: (indicate preferred or required)

• Previous experience in a psychiatric setting or a community service agency is preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to work effectively with other staff as a member of the treatment team required.
• Completes unit specific orientation and competencies.
• Ongoing education to increase Psychiatric nursing skills.

Additional Information:

• 8 Hour shifts during weekdays
• 12 hour shifts (every third weekend) on the weekends
• Must be willing to work all shifts (We do have staff that works straight Nights so that will be occassional)
• "Block" schedule that repeats for easy work life balance
