We are looking for an individual with military service to serve as a Reemployment Coordinator - Disabled Veterans Outreach Person (DVOP) and help create opportunities for fellow veterans. Examples of Work

The Reemployment Coordinator - DVOP provides case management, job search assistance, and vocational guidance services to veterans with serious barriers to employment (SBE). Assists in the development and promotion of veterans which may include contacting employers. Provides services in accordance with the Jobs for Veterans Act, Workforce Investment Act, and veteran’s priority of service. Coordinates and collaborates with services with partner agencies. Provides file review and follow-up of individual veterans. Communicates/monitors progress throughout case management with follow-up after placement. Utilizes computer programs/applications including NEworks. Provides a full range of case management, placement, and training services to eligible veterans to include outreach to veterans, employment registration assistance when appropriate, determine eligibility for partner services, labor market information, vocational guidance, referrals, job search techniques, workshops, and job development. Develops resumes, provides assessments, develops Individual Employment Plans (IEP) with follow-up process outlined for client. Identifies barriers and the need for veterans to receive case management services. Conducts outreach activities to locate veterans who could benefit from case management and/or intensive services from the VA and other partner programs. Demonstrates the use of online resources including NEworks. Follows-up with veteran participants to check employment status following placement. Develops OJT opportunities with training providers and employers. Performs data entry, retrieval activities and computer operations in NEworks in addition to other computer programs. Some job-related travel will be required.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: APPLICANTS MUST BE VETERANS' OF MILITARY SERVICE. Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing or a related field; or experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research and direct customer service.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in human resources, behavioral science, business administration, communication or education or closely related field and two years' related work experience. Bilingual language skills desired (Spanish preferred).

OTHER: Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Veterans programs; Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Access, Word, Excel and Power Point), SharePoint, Google Docs; NEworks or other GeoSolution software; Management Information Systems. Skill in: Public speaking; communicating both orally and in writing; presenting information clearly using various media; strong case management procedures; promoting, marketing, and presenting services to others; database entry. Ability to: Utilize computer technology in an effective, timely and accurate manner to provide services to veterans; understand and follow program rules as they relate to state and federal policy; maintain an appropriate, professional working relationship with the public, coworkers and management.
