The School of Education - Center for Sensory & Complex Disabilities is seeking one candidate as the Project Specialist- Manager role. This position will support the Principal Investigator with all aspects of the activities and timelines documented within the approved MOA.

The Campaign for Language & Literacy Excellence (CLLE) is a statewide project of The College of New Jersey’s Center for Sensory & Complex Disabilities funded by the New Jersey Division of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. The activities of this project reflect the overall development of language and literacy in young Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Deafblind young children. There are 4 primary activities that include: Family Language Immersion Opportunities; Statewide Educational Campaign for Language Equality; Early Literacy Project for Families with D/HOH Children; Statewide Symposium on Language & Literacy in young Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Deafblind young children.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Management of entire grant activities and timelines as approved within the agreed upon MOA
  • Collaborate with Department of DHS and all outside stakeholders within the deaf community in the state of New Jersey
  • Direct supervision of the grant staff members under the guidance of the Principal Investigator
  • Management and overseeing of the project website, to include abode creative suite and marketing experience is preferred
  • Management and overseeing of the program timelines are met as directed within the approved MOA
  • This professional position requires a flexible schedule that is dependent on the needs of the project and as indicated by the Principal Investigator

Required Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience or demonstrated experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Demonstrated ability to…manage a small team, meet timelines, report writing as needed and submission processes for required documentation as needed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of educational perspectives and strategies of listening and spoken language
  • Proficient in American Sign Language without the use of an interpreter to communicate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading, managing and supervising outreach activities
  • Working with families of Young Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Deafblind, MUST have experience with American Sign Language Instruction
  • Documented experience in Project Management
