Job description
We are seeking a Mechanical Inspector to serve on a 2-3-year duration project near Tampa, Florida.
Reporting to the Senior Site Coordinator, the Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for monitoring the Construction Contractor’s construction activities at the site in regard to the installation of OEM rotating equipment and the installation (welding or threading) of components (fittings) and pipe for all mechanical and piping systems at the facility (compressor station, pump station, pressure control/regulating station and tank terminals) within accordance of the code, specifications, and contract.
This position will be eligible for per diem, along with food and mileage expenses.

Responsibilities:Pre-Construction Input & Preparation
- Thoroughly review and ensure compliance with the Project Quality Plan (PQP)
- Assist in planning and organizing contractor reporting and performance tracking
- Review all controlling documents (i.e., Owner’s specifications, CSA, ASME, Federal, and Jurisdictional codes and regulations) and ensure the site activities conform
Monitor Construction Contractor Performance During Construction
- Conduct activities in accordance with all required corporate QMS requirements, ISO 9001, project-specific, and customer requirements.
- Act as a quality representative for the project to assist project teams with the implementation of the QMS at the project level.
- Witness all welder qualification tests stipulated by the Owner and required by regulatory bodies
- Continually monitor the fabrication, erection, assembly, and testing of mechanical components and their proper documentation
- Attend and may conduct safety meetings with site inspection staff
- Forward hydrostatic test reports and information to the Project Engineer regarding hydro summary action
- Coordinate with the Construction Manager to ensure all applicable components, pipes, and equipment are returned safely to the Owner's warehouse facilities
Post-Construction Project Resolution and Close-out
- Provide input to close-out report and lessons learned report
- Participate in an end of project review with engineering, procurement, and operations to ensure future projects are executed smoothly, and provide recommendations for improvement on an ongoing basis
- Upon completion of construction, interface with and provide necessary assistance to the group in preparing the final as-built drawings and documentation
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Inspector
- Ability to lead a group of people and provide directions
- Ability to work in Tampa for multiple years
