Manager, Rights and Clearances

Contract Position - $2100-$2350 a week – Depending on experience and location.

Who We Are Seeking
We are seeking a Rights and Clearance Manager to supervise clearance activities across multiple projects for linear broadcast and streaming platforms. Navigate rights required for various types of media based on network client Standards & Practices teams. Build strong relationships with third party content vendor representatives, including negotiation of both long term and project based high volume agreements. Guide Rights & Clearances Coordinator through modification and development of workflows for review and identification of copyright, trademark, music, privacy, S&P, and individual release concerns.
What You will Be Doing
- Research and source user-generated, stock/clearing house and vendor curated content at the direction from Executive and Story Producers.
- Negotiate required terms with rights holders based on internal and network legal parameters.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of third party and network acquired content and costs for individual projects as assigned and in collaboration with archival producers.
- Communicate rights and clearance issues to post management, business affairs and legal teams – flagging related potential editing and delivery delays.
- Screen Rough, Fine and Locked cuts as needed, for rights and clearance concerns.
- Partner with Production Management to ensure credit obligations are met.
- Serve as liaison between internal legal and business affairs, finance,and post departments to report costs and timelines.
- Serve as liaison between network S&P teams and internal post department.
- Under the direction of legal counsel, update standard agreements for individual acquisition parties, terms, and pricing.
- Work with post management and legal department to update and maintain rights & clearances workflows.
- Maintaining list of general S&P guidelines for individual network partners and project genres.
- Track & hit deadlines for well over a dozen projects at a time via internal and client tracking grids and systems
- To give you a sense of volume for this position we wanted to mention that it is common for a couple of clip shows to easily have 25+ clips per episode.
ExpertiseYou Will Bring
- You have a minimum of 4+ years of experience in a rights-clearance focused role either at a media production company or entertainment network.
- Experience working onvarious programming genres: True Crime, Clip/Countdown, Reno, Medical, etc.
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and finalizingclearance agreements with individuals and business entities including terms and cost.
- Experience clearing high volumes of media from various sources simultaneously and maintaining accuratecost, source,and usage records.
- Advanced knowledge of standard media rights terminology and best practices for long form, short form, promo,and digital media delivery.
- Comfortable guiding Executive Producers and company management on usage and rightsneeds.
- Understanding of common filesharingworkflows and specs from stock houses and individuals.
- Experience in maintainingorganizational documents on Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.
