Department Patient Financial Services Job Summary This leader has operational accountability and oversight and manages the daily billing and collection activities of the Patient Financial Services department, while overseeing the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure billing of claims and collections of governmental accounts are completed in an accurate and timely manner, and practices comply with governmental and regulatory guidelines, as well as commercial payor policies and procedures. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring successful completion of individual teamwork tasks, projects, and responsibilities in support of departmental and organizational goals. Required Qualifications - Require a Bachelor’s degree in related field. Four years of relevant work experience can substitute on a year for year basis for the required degree. - Require five (5) years of Medicare and Medicaid billing experience. Preferred Qualifications - Prefer three (3) years of prior management experience - Prefer demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels. - Prefer demonstrated ability to analyze problems and consistently follow through to solution - Prefer demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem solving expertise - Prefer five (5) years of hospital billing or patient accounting experience - Prefer Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification. - Prefer Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP) certification. - Prefer demonstrated knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations. - Prefer demonstrated knowledge of diagnosis and procedural coding. - Prefer previous hospital coding experience. - Prefer demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner. - Prefer demonstrated leadership skills and understanding of group processes, teamwork and site/cost-center based management.
