Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The ideal candidate will be a high energy, collaborative individual who aspires to find creative ways to solve problems, ask questions, and improve processes. The Project DOE Interface Manager will act as the single point of contact between Albemarle and the US Department of Energy (DOE) related to the Kings Mountain Mine Program in Kings Mountain, NC, USA. This role will be responsible for managing a positive working relationship among all stakeholders, and for meeting DOE specific reporting and invoicing requirements. This individual can initially be located remotely, mobilizing to site at the appropriate time in the project lifecycle. The successful candidate should have a minimum of ten (10) years working in a capital projects environment with a mix of both Owner/Operator and EPCM experience, and expert knowledge of the DOE project management philosophy, systems, and expectations. Advanced or working knowledge of the following systems and processes is preferred: SAP, Excel, Industry Project Reporting Software Systems, Power BI, Primavera, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Display and champion the Albemarle Core Values

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with greater Project Team including Albemarle Corporate Functional Leadership, DOE, vendors, and contractors

Ensure compliance with Albemarle Corporate Guidelines and Standards
-
Communicate comfortably with stakeholders at all levels of the project, GBU, Company, and government agency
-
Act as the single point of contact from the Project Team between Albemarle and the DOE and expertly manage that relationship

Provide expert guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult and complex project issues as it relates to typical DOE reporting and governance practices

Lead development and management of weekly/biweekly/monthly/quarterly suite of reporting required to meet DOE principles and standards in collaboration with the Project Reporting Manager

Liaise with the Project Controls Team in the following areas and deliverables:

Project Progress, Planning and Scheduling Risk Management, and Change Management

Monthly calculation of Value of Work Done (VOWD)

Monthly calculation of accruals
-
Earned Value reporting and forecasting
-
Project Progress and Reporting
-
Coordinate and prepare the monthly invoice and detailed backup for DOE submission

Lead the effort to maintain proper backup and historical data supporting DOE invoicing standards

Interface with the Project Cost Lead and Albemarle Finance in the management and control of cash flow forecasting and project performance related to DOE funding requirements

Support the validation of Contractor reported progress as necessary to meet functional objectives and DOE requirements

Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Accredited four (4) year degree in applicable field of study and minimum ten (10) years of work-related experience or directly related experience equal to twelve (12) years if non-degreed
