Job description
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Human Resources department including administration of Human Resources functions and programs including but not limited to, employment practices, recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, risk management and policy interpretation. The goal is to align the human resources function with the overall strategy of the hotel operation.
Key Relationships:
Internal: All employees
External: Union reps, Hotel guests/visitors, recruiters, and other vendors
Essential Job Functions:
· Responsible for completing unbiased investigations and partnering with managers in finding solutions related to performance management, labor unions (Local 2 & Teamsters 856), employee relations, recruitment, and more
· Oversee welcome experience of all new employees, leave of absences (FMLA/CFRA/PDL/Other Leaves), open enrollment, exit interviews, philanthropy events, and delivering compliance & safety training
· Routinely complete audits relating to: I-9, employee files, food handler’s certificate, benefit bills, and lockers
· Align line staff, Management, and the team as a whole to work cohesively and lead them to understand goals as of the Hotel.
· Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop and create strategic initiatives company wide.
· Foster a positive work culture and environment through employee engagement programs like Beekeeper/HangOuts and team events.
· Responsible for the ethical resolution of all employee relations issues.
· Responsible for the accurate administration of associate’s benefits and coordinating of employee events
· Manage all Unemployment /Workers Comp filings.
· Manage operations in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
· Assist in overseeing our Part Time HR/Administrative assistant, ensure that they are productive at all times.
· Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
Essential Physical Abilities:
· Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending and stooping
· Requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds
· Repetitive hand motion (typing) for extended periods of time
· Stand or sit for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift
Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and /or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently, with or without reasonable accommodations.
· At least 2 years of Human Resources Generalist experience
· Effective verbal and written communication skills in English is required
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Computer programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., and Human Resources/payroll systems. ADP Workforce experience preferred.
· Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
· Ability to deal effectively with all applicants and associates with tact and diplomacy, to diffuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
· Some supervisory experience is a plus
· Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management and Hospitality is preferred.
· Hospitality industry experience and experience in applying rules under the Collective Bargaining agreement is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
