REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER OR AGM OR GENERAL MANAGER

SUMMARY:

The Arbitrator negotiates with all parties involved when a buyer feels the vehicle he purchased was not sold as represented by the seller. The Arbitrator exhibits superior listening and negotiating skills at all times. The Arbitrator has a thorough understanding of all auction policies. The Arbitrator exhibits superior customer service at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Provide efficient and courteous service to all customers at all times.
  • Always exhibit ‘hands on’ and direct approach with customers.
  • Ensure proper operation of audio/video recorders before and during sale.
  • Record the arbitration complaint in detail through the AS400 and secure all checks otherwise written to the seller until the arbitration is concluded.
  • Thorough understanding of all auction policies and their interpretation.
  • Be fair and equitable in assisting both buyer and seller in understanding all policies.
  • Mechanically review the complaint.
  • Ensure that other issues not addressed in the complaint are not volunteered.
  • Obtain a second opinion from other staff members when the vehicle is to be turned down.
  • Negotiate with both buyer and seller to keep the vehicle sold.
  • Assist with rerun of vehicle should it deem necessary.
  • Assist with arrangements for any 3rd party reviews.
  • Price changes and selling light changes through the AS400.
  • All after sale arbitrations.
  • Communicate final decision with both the buyer and seller.
  • Timely completion of all paperwork documenting findings and follow-up.
  • Assist dealer with locating their unit(s) as necessary.
  • Work well independently as well as a team player.
  • Timely communication of issues that may be deemed as detrimental to the success of operations to Management.
  • Performs other duties as necessary
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Previous negotiating skills preferred.
  • Skills: Should be highly organized, self motivated and self disciplined. Highly customer service orientated. Computer proficient. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Environment: The environment of the Arbitrator involves working in the office at a desk for extended periods. Those working in this position are subject to temperature changes, all types of weather conditions, unhappy customers at times, elevated noise levels and at times fumes and odors associated with vehicle exhaust at times.
